Suozzi Speaks to Levittown’s Abbey Lane Elementary School About Environment

Mineola, NY – Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi spoke to the students of Abbey Lane Elementary School in Levittown on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, about ways they can participate in the GreenLevittown campaign. All students wore green today in recognition of GreenLevittown and listened as Suozzi encouraged them to recycle, promote awareness of global warming, and come up with ways to help keep our planet clean. Each student also received an energy-efficient LED nightlight, donated by SATCO Products.

“If we’re going to win the war against global warming we are going to have to bring the message to everyone, especially our local students,” said Suozzi. “The earlier they learn about environmentally responsible behaviors, the more they can protect our planet in years to come. It is so important for schools to get involved in grassroots efforts that can really make a difference, not just now, but for future generations.”

“We’re pleased to have County Executive Suozzi kick off his GreenLevittown program here. All the students wore green today to show their participation in the program and Abbey Lane Elementary School is making every effort as a school to recycle and do things that will protect our environment,” said Abbey Lane Elementary School principal Joann Wallace.
